Resumefill is in Public Beta 1. Things may be rough around the edges, and thanks for testing with us.

Privacy Policy

Effective 9 August 2026

The short version: your resume, your job scans and your API key are stored in your own browser. They are not uploaded to Resumefill, and we do not operate a server that could receive them. There is no account and no sign-in.

Data types, in the Chrome Web Store's own terms

Google publishes a fixed list of data categories. These are the ones Resumefill touches, and what happens to each. "Collected" below means transmitted to us, and we operate no server, so nothing is.

Category Handled how
Personally identifiable information
name, email, phone, address in your resume
Stored in your browser. Sent to your chosen AI provider when you press Generate, Check match or Tailor. Never collected by us.
Authentication information
your API key
Stored in your browser and sent only to the provider it belongs to, to authenticate your own requests. Never collected by us, never shown in bug reports.
Website content
the job posting text and form question labels on the page you're on
Read only when you press a button. Stored in your browser (last five jobs). Sent to your chosen AI provider to produce answers. Never collected by us.
Web history Not collected, not read. The extension does not observe pages in the background.
Location, health, financial information, personal communications Not collected. (A city on your resume is covered under personally identifiable information above.)
User activity Not collected. No analytics, no telemetry, no usage tracking of any kind.

Third parties that receive your data

Exactly one, and only the one you choose. When you press Generate, Check match or Tailor, your resume text and the job description are sent from your browser directly to the AI provider whose key you supplied:

  • Google (Gemini API), governed by Google's API terms and privacy policy
  • OpenAI , governed by OpenAI's API terms and privacy policy
  • Anthropic (Claude API), governed by Anthropic's API terms and privacy policy

The request goes browser-to-provider. It does not pass through Resumefill, and we could not read it if we wanted to. You choose the provider in the extension's Setup tab, and you can change or remove it at any time. There are no other third parties: no analytics provider, no error reporting service, no advertising network.

Retention

Your resume and API key stay until you change or delete them. Job scans and tailored resumes are capped at the five most recent, so a sixth pushes the oldest out permanently. All of it is deleted when you remove the extension. We hold nothing, so there is no retention period on our side and nothing to request deletion of.

Our commitments

  • We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties, other than the AI provider you chose for the purpose you triggered.
  • We do not use or transfer your data for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
  • We do not use or transfer your data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
  • If what we store or send ever changes, the extension shows you an updated notice before you continue using it, rather than relying on you re-reading this page.

Deleting your data

Clear history from the extension's History tab, or remove the extension entirely, and Chrome deletes its storage with it. There is nothing on our side to request deletion of.

Children

Resumefill is intended for adults seeking employment and is not directed at children under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the extension's listing.
